Introduction

In the spring of 2023, as we bid farewell to the epidemic and resume normalcy in our society, Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) organises the first academic conference of its kind in the academia, which focuses on both Early Childhood Education and Mengxue, intending to highlight Hong Kong’s position as a cultural hub that connects the East and the West, the past and the present.

From May 5 to 7, we are pleased to host over 30 scholars to explore three major themes in the fields of literature, history, language, communication, sports, digital technology, psychology, education, sociology, law and medicine, namely:

• Values and Attempts of New Mengxue in the 21st Century
  
• Child Protection Legislation and Family Support System Development
  
• Assessment Mechanisms for Quality Early Childhood Education and Teacher Training
  

Through the exchange of views and collaboration among scholars, educators and professionals across the spectrum, we strive to forge a broad and diverse future for early childhood education, with a particular focus on the training of teachers.
